VISION
SEED-Nepal grows to be a leading organization in Nepal in the field of Industrial and Urban Environment; and Economic Development of the deprived and marginalized section promoting awareness, advocacy and skill development. SEED-Nepal contributes in alleviating the sufferings of poorer section of the society due to industrial and urban pollution; unemployment and under-employment; and works towards achieving better quality of life.
MISSION
SEED-Nepal promotes awareness and advocacy on environmental, energy related and working environment issues relating to industrial and urban development.
SEED-Nepal assists the industries, authorities and facilitators in the field of industrial and urban environment in the management of the problem issues through intervention and treating human resource as the most important resource.
SEED-Nepal conducts skill trainings and awareness campaigns in the field of productivity, environment and working environment with a view to contributing in the generation of gainful employment opportunities through the creation of micro-enterprise and self employment opportunities.
SEED-Nepal conducts research to assists authorities in formulating and implementing policies conducive for the improvement in the industrial and urban environment; poverty alleviation and social inclusion.
SEED-Nepal also assists in the transfer of state-of-art and appropriate technology in the country to create gainful employment opportunities for the alleviation of poverty.
SOME ACCCOMPLISHMENTS
Although the organization is very new, it has carried out the following important activities:
- Awareness Program on environment and cleaner production for industries
- CP and EE interventions in industries
- Development of Training Packages on CP, EE, EMS, Compliance, OHS aspects
- Study for the prevention of pollution from beaten rice (Chiura) industries in Bhaktapur
- Awareness on Environmental aspects for industries of Lalitpur
- Training program on pollution control and energy efficiency for brick industries
- Collaborated with AIT, Bangkok in the preparation of research proposal submitted to SIDA
- Assisted Birgunj Chambers of Commerce and Industry to establish Environmental Cell
- Preparation of Kathmandu Valley Environmental Outlook 2007 assigned by ICIMOD/ADB/UNEP as the lead agency
- Awareness and implementation of CP around Dhobikhola River
- Participation in 3R South Asia Expert Workshop organized by ADB/ADB/UNEP
- 3R and CP awareness in 19 wards of Birgunj
- Stakeholders' consultation for Air Quality supported by Yale University, USA
